About Cynthia Matty-Huber

Award-winning Director and Cinematographer Cynthia Matty-Huber is renowned for films that capture the rugged beauty and vanishing lifestyles of the American West. While most of her work takes place in Montana, the universal sense of humanity she depicts has garnered critical acclaim across the country.

Cynthia’s first love was photography, a skill she spent most of her early life developing. It wasn’t until she discovered filmmaking, however, that she began to find her voice as an artist. She went on to earn her BA in Film and Photography and an MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking, both from Montana State University.

While completing her Master’s Degree, she achieved a critical and artistic breakthrough with “I Am Still Here,” a moving story of a ninety two year old rancher struggling to make his way in a changing world. The film was nominated for Best Documentary Short at Big Sky Film Festival and set the stage for Cynthia’s burgeons career. She went on to release her most recent award-winning documentary, “For Love of the Land,” which was enthusiastically received on the festival circuit. The film has won more than 38 awards and 4 IMDb’s, including one for Best Documentary Short at IndiX. Driven by a passion for the land she now calls home, Cynthia is dedicated to keeping the spirit of the old West alive.
